What is a Compounding Pharmacist?
Pharmaceutical Compounding is the specialised practise of preparing medication tailored to the specific needs of each patient.
Compounding dates back to the origins of pharmacy, yet its practise has changed over the years. During the 1930’s and 40’s most medication was compounded within the pharmacy.
However, with the advent of large scale drug manufacturing in the 1950’s and 60’s compounding rapidly declined and the pharmacist’s role quickly changed from preparing or compounding medication to dispensing manufactured medication.
The resurgence of interest in compounding is being driven by physicians, healthcare providers and patients who are seeking a more individualised solution to a range of dosing issues.
Our Compounding Pharmacists have the knowledge and experience to prepare specialised medications and will work collaboratively with you to design products that are appropriate.
